The Maya Handler Fellow

The Maya Handler Fellow

Throughout Maya’s brave journey, our family found both hope and guidance in cc-TDI’s work, making this cause one we hold especially close to our hearts. This campaign will fund a scientist as The Maya Handler Fellow, specifically developing a new therapy for rhabdomyosarcoma.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a form of childhood cancer that is often treatable, but not necessarily curable. The last curative-intent national clinical trial for relapsed rhabdomyosarcoma completed in July 2013 -- yet with advances in science in the meantime, developing a rhabdomyosarcoma-specific treatment that would work even without chemotherapy is more than possible. The Maya Handler Fellow will be central in a cc-TDI Team that develops a protein degrader therapeutic medicine for the kind of cancer that affected Maya.

Regular updates by videocall, lab visits and in-person presentations will be provided to supporters.
